Melissa qualified in 1993 from the Queen Elizabeth School of Physiotherapy, Birmingham and worked for 24 years at University Hospital of Bristol NHS
Foundation Trust.
She spent 3 years gaining broad physiotherapy experience before specialising in musculoskeletal conditions. She worked in the Rheumatology Department at the Bristol Royal Infirmary for over 20 years and has extensive experience of all types of arthritis including Rheumatoid Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Osteoporosis and other rheumatic diseases. She also has expertise in managing hypermobility, fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis (OA). Melissa is experienced in falls prevention and helping people to optimise their mobility and function believing passionately that engagement in physical activity is beneficial for good health and well-being.
Melissa joined Domaille Physio as a partner in 2017 and is also currently leading a research project exploring the acceptability of Nordic Walking for people with Inflammatory Rheumatic Diseases. She has presented previous research findings at national and international conferences and maintains a network of multi-disciplinary professionals within the Rheumatology field.
Melissa believes in a holistic approach to support people feeling confident to self-manage their condition in the long-term. She is a qualified Pilates instructor which she frequently incorporates into her treatment programmes. A patient-centered approach is at the core of her practice.
